8th Grade - Class of 2025
UPDATED September 30, 2024
Welcome to end of Middle School! ... Well, not quite, but it will sneak up quickly!
As the end of the year approaches, this will be a go-to page for all things graduation and high school. There are also links below to help keep you informed. As you can tell from our recent post, high schools are already beginning to hold informational sessions that you are encouraged and welcome to attend.
There are some important decisions, events and tasks to complete in the coming days as your student begins to wrap up their Shoreline experience. Please keep an eye on the Shoreline Parent News, Morning Announcements (your student views in class) and Advisory slides with tasks and information in order to stay up to date.
There will be many opportunities to learn about the high school transition! Please make note of the following dates & events:
VIRTUAL International Baccalaureate Info Session (Harbor High)
On Thursday 10/3 at 6:00pm, Harbor High's IB Coordinator will host an information session where we will cover the what, why and how of International Baccalaureate at Harbor High. We will also have at least three 2024 graduates in attendance who have been through IB courses, are in college, and can speak honestly about their experiences and advice for both students and parents.
We also have links to the event on our home page under the "Upcoming Events" section.
Thank you,
Kim Lenz

INFORMATION FROM CLASS OF 2024
Information: Did you know that Harbor, Soquel and Santa Cruz High are all in a different school district? Did you receive a mailing from Santa Cruz City School (SCCS) District to inform you about the high school that your student is assigned to attend, based on your address?
These are mailed to your address on file with Shoreline in November. If you did NOT receive one and suspect your address is incorrect, let the Shoreline office know (gvitali@losd.ca) and please be prepared to provide a new proof of residence to us AND the the high school at registration.Contact information for SCCS is below and will be a good source of information for you now and in the future.
Task: Find out your high school and submit a transfer (if needed/desired)
Type your address into this website and find out what school you are automatically assigned to attend.
If you live outside of the Live Oak School District boundaries, you may also be outside of SCCS boundaries and may need an inter-district transfer into the new district, Santa Cruz City Schools. The FORM can be printed and submitted to your district of residence.
If you would like an intradistrict transfer to another SCCS high school, you can complete the form for SCCS. Applications MUST BE RECEIVED BY FEBRUARY 8 @ 5PM at the SCCS District Office. The FORM is linked here - please read and complete thoroughly! Copies are also available in the Shoreline office.
Information: Once again, because Harbor, Soquel and Santa Cruz High are all in a different school district - Santa Cruz City Schools - you will need to register your child for high school. This can be done in person at the high schools or PREFERRED online through Infinite Campus. Please note that you will need a NEW Infinite Campus login, different from your one here with Live Oak School District, because the hosted website is for the Santa Cruz City Schools District (NOT LOSD).
Task: Register your child for high school. Please see the document below for step-by-step instructions on how to register online.
Infinite Campus HIGH SCHOOL Registration Instructions 2024-2025
Information: Counselors from the high schools will be here at Shoreline on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 to present to the students during their PE period. At this meeting, your student should receive printed information about registration, course selection, etc.
The counselors will then return to Shoreline on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 to meet with your student about their schedules for next year and answer questions. You are welcome to attend this brief meeting with your student.
Task: Please review the information that your child brings home from the March 6 presentations. There will be lots of valuable information included and lots of things to talk to your child about.
