8th Grade - Class of 2025

UPDATED March 20, 2025

Welcome to end of Middle School! ... Well, not quite, but it will sneak up quickly!

As the end of the year approaches, this will be a go-to page for all things graduation and high school.  There are also links below to help keep you informed. As you can tell from our recent post, high schools are already beginning to hold informational sessions that you are encouraged and welcome to attend.

There are some important decisions, events and tasks to complete in the coming days as your student begins to wrap up their Shoreline experience.  Please keep an eye on the Shoreline Parent News, Morning Announcements (your student views in class) and Advisory slides with tasks and information in order to stay up to date.

There will be many opportunities to learn about the high school transition!  Please make note of the following dates & events:

Harbor High is hosting free HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS PHYSICALS

Wednesday, May 14, 2025

12:00pm

* In order to play high school sports, every athlete MUST have a completed physical. This must be done every year.

* We encourage ANY 8th grader who is interested in playing high school sports to attend this FREE event and check this off their high school list!

* The event will begin at 12:00pm, while Harbor is still in session. We recommend that 8th graders go after they're dismissed at 12:32, in order to "beat the rush" of the high schoolers after they're dismissed. This is open to students at many schools, so going is best.

* You will need to bring the completed and signed forms (linked below). Parents need not be present, as long as the student athlete has these completed forms with them.

INFORMATION FROM CLASS OF 2025

info Information:  Did you know that Harbor, Soquel and Santa Cruz High are all in a different school district?  Did you receive a mailing from Santa Cruz City School (SCCS) District to inform you about the high school that your student is assigned to attend, based on your address?

These are mailed to your address on file with Shoreline in December.  If you did NOT receive one and suspect your address is incorrect, let the Shoreline office know (gvitali@losd.ca) and please be prepared to provide a new proof of residence to us AND the the high school at registration. Contact information for SCCS is below and will be a good source of information for you now and in the future.

check markTask:  Find out your high school and submit a transfer (if needed/desired)

Type your address into this website and find out what school you are automatically assigned to attend.

If you live outside of the Live Oak School District boundaries, you may also be outside of SCCS boundaries and may need an inter-district transfer into the new district, Santa Cruz City Schools.  The FORM can be printed and submitted to your district of residence

If you would like an intradistrict transfer to another SCCS high school, you can complete the form for SCCS.  Applications MUST BE RECEIVED BY FEBRUARY 8 @ 5PM at the SCCS District Office.  The FORM is linked here - please read and complete thoroughly!  Copies are also available in the Shoreline office.

info Information:  Once again, because Harbor, Soquel and Santa Cruz High are all in a different school district - Santa Cruz City Schools - you will need to register your child for high school.  This can be done in person at the high schools or PREFERRED online through Infinite Campus.  Please note that you will need a NEW Infinite Campus login, different from your one here with Live Oak School District, because the hosted website is for the Santa Cruz City Schools District (NOT LOSD).

check markTask:  Register your child for high school.  Please see the document below for step-by-step instructions on how to register online.

Infinite Campus HIGH SCHOOL Registration Instructions 2025-2026

info Information:  Counselors from the high schools will be here at Shoreline on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 to present to the students during their PE period.  At this meeting, your student should receive printed information about registration, course selection, etc.

The counselors will then return to Shoreline on Friday, January 24, 2025 to meet with your student in their Social Studies class period about their schedules for next year and answer questions.  You are welcome to attend this brief meeting with your student, please sign in at the office for a visitors pass.

check markTask:  Please review the information that your child brings home from the January 15 presentations.  There will be lots of valuable information included and lots of things to talk to your child about.
