Next week is the last week of the 2020-2021 school year and we are so proud of our graduates. It has been quite a year, and they have endured and excelled in the midst of unprecedented challenges. As our students transition to high school, we are so pleased to share time to celebrate them and all they have accomplished during their time at Shoreline.
If you have not done so already, please come and pick up your free 2021 Shoreline Graduate Yard Sign available in the office or library, open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm.
Our in-person ceremony is on Thursday, May 27th from 5:00 to 6:00pm. We are looking forward to hosting a safe celebration for our 8th grade students and families, and we will follow the CDPH guidance on graduation ceremonies. Graduates will be safely seated on stage with their Advisory groups.
Graduation & Guests: All guests will be seated with their household of up to 4 seats. All attendees must wear masks, shall stay 6 feet from members outside of their household and "attendees must sign up in advance of the graduation, and only those who have pre-registered may attend." Please see link to CDPH guidance at the bottom of this message.
Each graduate can register up to 4 guests. Please take the time to pre-register guests by name on this Google form prior to Wednesday, May 26th.
Tickets: Tickets will be distributed to students at the 8th grade materials return date on Wednesday, May 26th. Please look for them in the large manila envelope. The ticket will include seating information, identifying the location of the 4 seats (see the map below as a reference). Since households will be seated together, tickets/seats are NOT transferable.
Please Protect the New Turf: Guests will be seated on the new turf field and CANNOT wear spiked heels or bring their own chairs as they may damage the new turf field (wedge shoes are permitted).
Graduate Dress Code: Attire for the graduation ceremony should continue to follow school guidelines (i.e; no shirts with slogans or sagging of pants, no bare or exposed midriffs, dresses and skirts must extend past fingertips, no strapless dresses, no see-through type clothing, no cleavage, no tube tops and no visible undergarments). Spaghetti straps and halter dresses are permitted at the graduation (this is an exception to the school guidelines). Shoes must be worn at all times and heels with spikes are not allowed on the turf.
It is a special time and although we want all students to dress for the occasion, they should not overdo it. Please take these elements into consideration when looking for your student’s outfit. Students dressed inappropriately will be asked to leave and will not participate in the ceremony.
Next Week...Grad Practice & Materials & Chromebook Collection: We will have graduation practice on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Please make sure students are on campus to practice on Tuesday 11 - 12 and Wednesday 11 - 3. Students must also return their Chromebook, textbooks, library/classroom books and music equipment on Wednesday. Please see this schedule for the daily class and activity times.

High School Registration: If you have not done so already, please make sure to create an Illuminate Parent Portal account for your 8th graders going to Harbor, Soquel or Santa Cruz High. This process will ensure that the high schools have your correct information and can communicate important information with you over the summer. Follow this link to create an account.
